In the landscape architects’ back pocket there are a number of tools to explore, engage and enhance the voyeurism of the private landscape space.
These tools hinge on a spatial understanding of an environment marrying together the materials and architectural style of the property, together with the personality and budget of the client.
“It is in the mystic and the beautiful that we seek to attain through revealing our place in the order of Nature….beauty speaks like an oracle, and man has always heeded its message in an infinite number of ways…. A garden must combine the poetic and the mysterious with serenity and joy.” – Dan Kiley
By recreating a woodland environment, a new spatial dynamic is explored within the garden and reflected in the surrounding concepts.
A woodland environment can be designed through the selection and placement of large feature trees, massed together, leading the eye to a rhythm of trunks with associated under planting.
