Sedum Autumn Joy
Description: the attractive clump of suculent like leaves in grey/green in colour and are toothed along their margins. The pink powder puff flowers sit nicely above the foliage, turning a calico and brown with age.
Botanical Name: Sedum Autumn Joy
Height: 80cm high and 50cm width
Foliage: The leaves are green and fleshy
Flower: Main flowering in summer through autumn. Leave the old flowers to enjoy the winter flower heads.
Growth Habits: Prefer a well drained soil that is not overly rich. Too much fertiliser can lead to lots of foliage that is soft and subsceptible to rot and soft lax stems. Plants growing in heavy clay may require replanting every few years to maintain vigour. Tolerant of poor soils.
Light: Full Sun Watering Needs: Avoid too much watering which can cause rot. Once established sedums can withstand periods of dryness, though perform better with supplementary watering. Do not cover with too much mulch in the winter.
Treatment: Prune back old flower heads to ground in the winter, this will promote a thick new crown of beautiful rosettes of leaves. They will sit waiting until the spring when they seem to grow on air. Feeding - Moderate feeding is recommended in early spring with an organic slow release
