Bougainvillea

Description: Bougainvillea are a flowering climbing plant originally from Brazil

Height: 1-12m

Foliage: They are evergreen where rainfall occurs all year, or deciduous if there is a dry season Flower: In cooler temperate climates Bougainvilleas will have one summer flowering season, but in warmer climates they spot flower throughout the year.

Growth Habits: Bougainvillea require a well drained, but moist soil.

Fertilizer: Bougainvillea do well with a slow release fertilizer.In spring and summer apply fertiliser that's high in phosphorus and potassium. This helps to maintain the beautiful colours of the bracts.

Light: For maximum flowering Bougainvillea require 5 - 7 hours of sunshine each day

Watering Needs: Bougainvilleas need a free draining soil and hate having excess water sitting around the roots.
